How to use
Lock in the photo vocabulary: lens ("35mm at f/2", "85mm at f/1.4"), light ("north-facing window", "golden hour backlight"), film or color science ("Kodak Portra 400", "Fujifilm Velvia"), and texture ("natural skin pores", "raw, no retouching"). Ask for what a real photographer would ask for.
What it is good for
Stock photography · Editorial illustration · Portfolio fillers and mood boards · Pre-shoot references · Recipe blog hero shots · Architecture studies · Wildlife and landscape practice. Plus and Pro plans grant commercial use.
Which model to pick
For portraits, food, architecture and most realism work, GPT-Image-2 is the strongest realism baseline. Nano-Banana Pro shines on dramatic light and painterly realism (think National Geographic dusk shots). Both, always — that is the point.
Frequently asked questions
Can I generate photoreal images of real people?
No. We block prompts naming public figures and real private individuals. Both upstream models also refuse most likeness requests. Generate fictional characters only.
How do I make AI portraits look less "AI"?
Three things: name a lens and aperture, name a film stock or color science, and ask for natural skin texture (pores, asymmetry, no retouching). Skip "ultra detailed", "8k", "masterpiece" — they push the model toward the AI look.
Best aspect ratio for portraits?
3:4 portrait for traditional headshots, 9:16 for mobile-first social, 1:1 for thumbnails.
Can it generate food and product photos?
Yes — those are GPT-Image-2 strengths. We also have a dedicated /tools/ai-product-photo-generator with product-specific guidance.
Do I get full commercial rights on the photos?
On Plus and Pro plans, yes — full commercial usage rights on everything you generate. Free tier is for personal use and previewing the models.
